Grandpa had a few jokes and sayings written on some loose papers in the front of the journal:

This journal gave me some trouble, but I finally figured out Grandpa's pattern for recording his 1962 entries and his 1984 entries, so hopefully the entries I put forward here will be accurate.
Grandpa's clients from this year included:
Carlos F. Martindell, Ralph Gray, Joe Stevens, Spurlock, Dr. Clark Rich, Mrs. C. Rich, Wolfers, Dunkley, Mrs. Peery, Royal Eccles, Chambers, Ogden Stake Offices, Coit, G. Singleton, Isao Yamaguch, Norma Haney, Southwick, Jane Brewer, R. Pugmire, Glen Quillman, Steve Denkers, Ruando Spa, J. Silver.
Jan. 29th (Mon) 1962: Grandpa did work for W. Eccles, Willard Eccles and S.S. Eccles all in the same day.
Mar. 21st (Wed) 1962: Grandpa has a note in here that says:
“Willard Eccles Wash L.R Cornich (sp?) – Cancelled (Dr Rich Died).”
It would be interesting to find an obituary for Dr. Rich.
Apr. 11th (Wed) 1962 to Apr. 14th (Sat) 1962: Grandpa took a trip to Reno.
Here’s a postcard picture that was taken just a year later that gives you an idea of what it would’ve looked like to Grandpa.
May 16th (Wed) 1962: This entry says the following:
“Loaded Gwen & Larry”

June 15th (Fri) 1962: Grandpa had a Board Meeting in Grand Junction.

Aug. 6th (Unknown Day) 1963: <----Notice the date: Grandpa worked on George Eccles’ Canyon property. This entry is interesting because Grandpa dated it 1963 and also because of what it says:

Party took over! Decided to quit.

Aug. 31st (Fri) 1962: Grandpa worked for C. Rich on his “Ex. Porch”, but it was raining so he quit after 2 ½ hours.
Sept. 6th (Thur) 1962: It rained all day, but Grandpa still worked 4 hours at the Ogden Stake Offices mixing colors and painting the hall. Plus he worked 4 hours for Coit.
Sept. 7th (Fri) 1962: Grandpa’s notes say it was a “Good day” because the “Rain stoped.”
Sept. 13th (Thur) 1962: Grandpa wrote “rain” and then slashed it out and described the day as “Beauty Day”.
Sept. 20th (Thurs) to Sept. 22nd (Sat) 1962: Grandpa went to Idaho Falls.
On Thurs he wrote “Raind out at noon” and on Fri he wrote “Rained all nite”.
Sept. 24th (Mon) 1962: I thought this next entry was interesting:
67 Milbon (sp?) $ asked for
Prison remodeling
Sept. 28th (Fri) 1962: Grandpa has an entry that mentions a Isao Yamaguch @ 451 15th St. Ogden Utah.

Oct. 19th (Fri) to Oct 21st (Sun) 1962: Grandpa went deer hunting.
This next entry is for John Wiggins who wrote this in an email to me on 04/15/10:
When I was a teenager, my father wanted something to keep me busy one summer, so he had Clifford explain to him how to oil and graphite the wood shingles on a roof, and then he taught me.
I spent much of the summer doing Delores’ roof and our roof (what a messy job!). When I was doing Delores’ roof, Clifford would come over and see that I was following directions and doing a good job. It always made me feel really good when he would give me his “mark of approval”.
Oct. 22nd (Mon) 1962 to Nov 1st (Thur) 1962: Grandpa did a “Roof scrape” for J. Stevens and worked a total of 46.5 hours.
On

Nov. 26th (Mon) 1962: Grandpa went to Dr. Southwick for a physical and a chest x-ray.
Dec. 3rd (Mon) 1962: Grandpa went back to Dr. Southwick for more x-rays.
Dec. 4th (Tue) 1962: Grandpa had x-rays on his “stomack”.
Dec. 5th (Wed) 1962: Grandpa had an appointment with Dr. Southwick at 11:30 A.M.
Dec. 10th (Mon) 1962: Grandpa was scheduled for x-rays at 8:45 A.M. but it was cancelled till Tuesday at 8:45.
Dec. 11th (Tue) 1962: Grandpa had his x-rays.
Dec. 19th (Wed) 1962: Grandpa had an appointment with Dr. Southwick again at 11:30 A.M.
I wonder what was wrong that he needed so many doctor visits and x-rays.
This next entry is interesting:
